May 2009:
Flows at or above 1500 cfs at the put-in below Boyle Powerhouse (Spring Island Put-in) by 8:00 AM, 7 days a week. The 1500 cfs will be sustained as long as inflows allow and operations require.
PacifiCorp recommends all river users check the
water release schedule
daily, to verify flows and release times.
June 1 – September 14; Non-holiday periods (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday,):
The J.C. Boyle Generator unit start time will be 8:00 AM
for these days. Flows of 1200 cfs or greater are typically achieved at the powerhouse, approximately three hours after the
indicated
generation unit start time. An additional 150-300 cfs of base flow occurs in the JC Boyle bypass reach, between the dam and
the put-in. It is recommended that all boating parties check the BLM staff gauge at the put-in to verify actual flow.
Recreational users should recognize that the cfs values listed in the Hourly Estimated Flows Table are an average for the hour listed
(i.e., the value for 11:00 is an average of the flows occurring between 10:00 and 11:00
). Therefore, when ramping is in progress, actual turbine flow on the hour indicated may be approximately 150-300 cfs higher
than the value shown.
June 1 – September 14; Non-holiday periods
(
Wednesday):
Open day as needed. This is PacifiCorp's day to correct reservoir position, if needed, so that recreation and power commitments
can be preserved for the balance of the week. PacifiCorp reserves the right to operate the project later in the day or as
necessary.PacifiCorp recommends all river users check the
water release schedule
to verify flows for these days.
4th of July Holiday (July 3-5):
Raftable flows (1500 cfs at put-in) by 10:00 AM forecasted for all days. PacifiCorp recommends all river users check the
water release schedule
daily, to verify flows and release times.
Labor Day Weekend, Sept 5-7: (Saturday - Monday):
Raftable flows (1500 cfs at the put-in) by 10:00 AM forecasted for all three days. PacifiCorp recommends all river users check the
water release schedule
daily, to verify flows and release times.
Summer 2009 J.C. Boyle Maintenance Outage Schedule:
There are currently no planned extended outages at the J.C. Boyle project. Nevertheless, there is always the possibility of a mechanical failure causing unplanned outages.
Any unplanned outages at J.C. Boyle could impact the rafting schedule. Check the water release schedule
daily, to see if unplanned outages have any effect on rafting.
The intent in providing the above information is to provide raftable flows, as listed. However, if difficulties arise in the
power supply situation, PacifiCorp reserves the right to operate the project later in the day or as necessary. PacifiCorp
recommends all river users check the
water release schedule
daily, to verify flows and release times.
