PORTLAND, Ore. -- Without committed, knowledgeable customers, renewable energy wouldn’t have any place to go. That's why Pacific
Power is thanking every customer who played a part in winning a major national award today.
“Our Blue Sky renewable energy program is a winner because of our far-sighted customers such as Georgia-Pacific Corp., the
Port of Portland, and Widmer Brothers Brewing,” said Pat Reiten, president of Pacific Power, upon learning that the company’s Blue Sky program had received one of the nation’s highest honors for renewable energy. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S.
Department of Energy recognized Pacific Power as the 2007 Green Power Program of the Year. The award cites the utility for
its commitment to advancing the development of the nation’s green power market.
“Pacific Power’s Blue Sky renewable energy program gives us an effective way to offset our environmental impacts associated
with electricity consumption,” said Bill Wyatt, executive director of the Port of Portland, a major Blue Sky customer. “Congratulations
on gaining the recognition for making Blue Sky such an effective program.”
“We’re thrilled to accept this award on behalf of our customers because they make Blue Sky happen,” said Reiten. “Committing
to renewable energy through Blue Sky makes sense whether you’re living in an apartment in Portland, running a restaurant on
the coast, operating a vineyard in southern Oregon or going to college in Walla Walla.”
Customers of all sizes and types appreciate the simple way Blue Sky allows them to avoid putting carbon dioxide into the
atmosphere, to support development of renewable energy and to encourage their neighbors to do the same.
Pacific Power’s Blue Sky renewable energy program received the honor Oct. 22 at the 2007 Green Power Leadership Awards event
in Philadelphia. Blue Sky was developed by PacifiCorp, which operates in Oregon, Washington and California as Pacific Power
and in Utah, Wyoming and Idaho as Rocky Mountain Power. The program placed first among more than 100 nominations in the competition
as the result of major customer milestones reached last year.

environmental benefit equivalent to taking 57,523 cars off the road for a year or planting 67.2 million trees.

More than half of the 12 Environmental Protection Agency’s Green Communities nationwide are in Blue Sky territories.
They include Corvallis, Cannon Beachand Lincoln Cityand four towns in Utah. Bend, Ore.,is beginning a community challenge that is likely to make that city the nation’s next Green Community.
Customers have a range of options for buying Blue Sky renewable energy: Blue Sky Block, Usage or Habitat. Buying one 100-kilowatt-hour
increment of Blue Sky Block costs only $1.95 per month. Customers can buy as many blocks as they wish. Blue Sky Usage allows
customers to offset all their energy usage with renewable resources for less than a penny per kilowatt-hour (0.78 cents).
With Blue Sky Habitat, customers buy renewable energy at the same rate as Blue Sky Usage and make a donation to The Nature
Conservancy of Oregon to preserve native fish habitat. Large customers can buy renewable power in bulk at a discount through
Blue Sky QS. Participation is optional, and customers can increase their participation or withdraw at any time.
