DES MOINES, Iowa — Nov. 30, 2007 — Rocky Mountain Power’s parent company, MidAmerican Energy Holdings Company, has been recognized as the 2007 Platts Global Energy Awards Power Company of the Year.

The recognition honors MidAmerican as the leading power company in the world for 2007. The award was presented at a ceremony last night in New York City attended by energy executives from around the world.

"Rocky Mountain Power’s commitment to customer satisfaction and serving its growing customer base with new generation and much-needed transmission improvements significantly contributed to this recognition," said Greg Abel, chairman and CEO of PacifiCorp. "Rocky Mountain’s continued development of a balanced portfolio of electric generation assets, including hundreds of wind turbines, along with its Blue Sky programs, demonstrates its leadership as a renewable energy provider.

"My highest appreciation goes to Rocky Mountain Power’s and MidAmerican’s other employees for their commitment to providing reliable, environmentally conscious and affordable energy to our customers around the world."

Judges credited MidAmerican’s leadership in the energy industry, noting that "strategic forethought, technical know-how and a determination never to let the customer down are the corporate hallmarks of the company winning this award." MidAmerican also was cited for outstanding achievements in customer satisfaction, renewable generation, and enhanced transmission infrastructure, among other improvements.

This is MidAmerican’s fourth Platts Global Energy Award since the awards began in 1999. No other energy company has won this many awards.

Two MidAmerican subsidiaries also were finalists in the Global Energy Awards. Northern Natural Gas Company was nominated as Energy Transporter of the Year, and MidAmerican Energy Company was a finalist in two categories – Community Development Program of the Year and Energy Construction Project of the Year.
