Populus to Ben Lomond

Project Overview

As part of PacifiCorp's investment in new transmission facilities announced in 2007, our company is completing construction of a new double-circuit, 345-kilovolt transmission line from the new Populus substation near Downey, Idaho to the existing Ben Lomond substation in Box Elder County, Utah, a distance of approximately 90 miles. The Ben Lomond substation has been expanded on company-owned property to accommodate the new line.

Project Timeline

  • Informational meetings – November 2007 - October 2008
  • Permitting and obtaining rights of way – December 2007 - April 2009
  • Construction – February 2009 - November 2010
  • Estimated line in service for customers – November 2010
