Oregon recreation

A variety of public recreation opportunities are located along the Rogue River, Wallowa River, North Umpqua River, and Link River (Klamath Falls). Our facilities provide river and reservoir fishing, boating, camping and hiking opportunities.

Recreation sites associated with J.C. Boyle Reservoir were closed by the Klamath River Renewal Corporation in 2023. For more information, contact the Klamath River Renewal Corporation. For information on the status of Topsy Campground, contact the Bureau of Land Management.

Safety around dams

Please use caution around dams and waterways. Follow posted notices and watch over children.

Upper Klamath River and Rafting

Immediately downstream of the J.C. Boyle Dam site, the Klamath River enters a series of rugged, deep gorges and narrow canyons. In 1994, the section of river between the J.C. Boyle Powerhouse and California state line was designated a National Wild and Scenic River by the U.S. Secretary of the Interior. The U.S. Bureau of Land Management manages the river in cooperation with the State of Oregon. Water releases into the Klamath River are managed by Bureau of Reclamation and made from Keno Dam. To learn about whitewater rafting opportunities in Upper Klamath River please contact the Klamath Falls office of the BLM at 541-883-6916.
